Lydia Simcox
As a child, growing up in the rural Midwest, there was ample time to conjure up projects to pass the carefree days. Creating simple pieces of art from mud clay and glass began as a means of amusement, however it soon grew into Lydia's muse. After college she began to experiment with different media but it didn't take long before she returned to her beginnings, finding a special piece of glass that would conjure up many artistic possibilities. Her affinity for glass and appreciation of nature can be seen in her paintings and mosaics. Simcox states "Still today, I am thrilled when I find a piece of wood, glass or even a rock that has been overlooked. I can see beyond the 'rough' creating a forum for which it will receive the admiration it deserves."
Special Guest
Charlie Pattison
Sunday, October 18, 2009
Charlie Pattison grew up on a ranch in southeastern Montana where the preferred mode of transportation to his one-room schoolhouse was a horse. After graduating from college, Charlie used horses for a different purpose - rodeoing. As a pro rodeo cowboy, Charlie started to notice the silver belt buckles given as trophies. The more time he spent on the rodeo circuit, the more he was interested in the craftsmanship displayed on those buckles that he and other cowboys had won.
Charlie started working with silver strictly as a hobby while still a rodeo cowboy. Seeking out craftsmen all over the West, Charlie became more knowledgeable about his new trade. Once his rodeo career ended, he made silversmithing his full time job. His big break occurred nearly 20 years ago when a friend who owns a dude ranch hosted Charlie's first trunk show. From that day, Charlie has developed a loyal following for his understated but elegant pieces. Dividing his time between a few select dude ranches in Wyoming and Scottsdale, Charlie caters to a discerning clientele who appreciate the time and talent displayed in every one of his CAP Silver pieces.
